Lancers vs Cougars
In a defensive battle, the Lancers took a 5-0 lead over the Cougars midway into the first half when Jon Vasquez carried defenders over the try line for the games first score. Like a ping pong match, the Lancers and Cougars traded possession and field position throughout the first half. At halftime, the Lancers held the lead by a narrow margin of 5-0. Shortly into the second half, the cougars pulled out their only score of the day. They scored a try in the corner of the end zone, and with an unsuccessful conversion, tied the match at 5-5. However, the Lancers would not be held down for long. They tightened their defense and opened up their offense. Jordin Farrell took a short pass on the outside and outraced the defense to the end zone for a try. The successful conversion gave the Lancers a 12-5 lead. A few minutes later, Jordin Farrell raced through the center of the field and with some shifty running made several defenders miss and scored a try under the post. The Lancer lead increased to 19-5 with the conversion. With time running out, the Lancers would score once more when Jordin Farrell took another pass in the center of the field and mimicked his second try scoring once more under the post. The Lancers finished the game with an impressive 26-5 win over the Cougars. Notable players in the game were Caleb Short, Anthony Sanchez, Brad Whiting, Danny Koi, Zack Shiflet and Kiso Afoa.
