With the season coming around soon, it is time to start thinking about getting yourself fit and recruiting your friends and classmates out to play rugby. All we ask for is (2) practices..........If you don't like the game, then move on.......but if you like the game, then come out and help the Lancers have a great season. See you all soon. Stay tuned for fundraiser that you or your parents could do to help lower or eliminate your dues. Why help fund raise??? Well, it helps our team gain camaraderie through working together to get a task accomplished, you will get money to help pay the cost of dues and uniforms and you see the benefits every day on the practice fields with the new equipment. Last year, we purchased 10 ruck bags on sale and sold one for a slight profit and then utilized several others in many practices. This year, we will be looking to purchase tackle suits that will be used for tackling practice, as well as, rucking practice. Also, I want to see our goal posts light up with brand new Lancer Rugby goal post covers. I want teams to know that we are for real!!! Hope that everyone has enjoyed their Summer and are preparing to keep their grades up for the upcoming season.

Coach Rose

Fundraisers- Over the Summer months, we have done several fundraiser to help the club be able to buy new equipment and to help players with paying off their dues. Each player or parent that works gets 25% of the earning to go to wards their/their players' dues until it is paid off. Once the dues is paid off, the remain funds will go to build our club. We will have several players that will have paid off their dues and will just be helping to make our club better through new equipment. We started our fund raising venture by tearing down fences at the commencement of the Jazz Festival on Memorial Day. We had 15 people show up to help. They were: Cameron Smith, Anthony Sanchez, James Chase, Tyler Farnsworth, Jeff Farnsworth (Tyler's Dad), Joe Huppert, Andrew Huppert, Herman Huppert (Joe's Dad), Coach Bill Shiflet, Zack Shiflet, Nic Edwards, Josh Rose, Coach Kevin Breen, Coach Terry Gascoigne and Coach Dan Rose. We raised $1500.00 in about 4 hours of light manual labor. The Jazz Festival people were extremely happy to have us help with this event. Next year we will be looking at taking 20-25 people and really show them what we can do. After the the clean up, we were fed sandwiches and sodas for our hard work. Thanks and congratulation to all who helped out. Next, we had the Air Show. The Lancer Rugby Club manned a beer booth with parents and coaches and got a chance to watch some great air show action. It was easy work and exciting to watch. When all was said and done, we raised nearly $1200.00 for our Saturday and Sunday shift. Another job well done!!!! Finally, the Lancer Rugby Club put our hands into helping park cars for the Rancho Cordova 4th of July Festival on Jun 30th and July 3rd and Fourth. This was our second year doing this fundraiser and we invited the Islanders' Club to come and help out our club while helping their club raise funds at the same time. It was a great success and our future in this fund raising event is limitless. Thanks to all who helped in any or all of these fundraisers and remember that a percentage of the work you put in will go directly to help pay for you uniforms (Lancer track suits as well this year) and dues.

Upcoming Fund Raisers- We are going to pour beer at the State Fair again this year. Only this year, we are doing it solely as the Lancer Rugby Club. We have been given every Saturday (two shifts-10:00/4:00 and 4:00/10:00.....6 hour shifts). Also, we have the opportunity of working the first Friday night (Sacramento's own Tesla will be playing that night) and any Sundays that we want (Same shifts as Saturday). Parents sign up and recruit friends to come help. It is alot of fun and before or after your shift you can be in the State Fair for free. Last year, everyones parking was paid through tips. We can expect the same this year. Sign up right away by contacting Suzi Edwards at (635-6956) or Coach Breen at (366-0565).

In late August or early September, we will be looking to do a Lancer Rugby Club Car Wash. Mike, with Mountain Mikes, has offered to let us use his parking lot and is going to give each paying customer a free mini pizza while their car is washed. This will be a great opportunity for all players to come out and take care of some of their dues. We need all the support we can get!!!! Stay tuned for the date and time............

At the present time, these are the fund raisers that we have done and will be upcoming. However, if anyone has a fund raising idea or knows of one that could benefit our club, then feel free to share Suzi Edwards or any of the coaching staff. Look back at the website frequently as news should start coming in more frequently. RUGBY WORLD CUP STARTS SEPTEMBER 8TH!!!!!!! GO EAGLES, ha ha ha!!!!
